Deep Gnome, Bladesinging Wizard, Bald, Male, Notaries Guild member of House Sivis, Proficient in Calligraphy and Forgery, has a proclivity for illusions, manipulation, scouting, information acquisitions, item forgery, and dabbles in larceny from time to time. He seems like a pretty nice sincere guy at the moment.
Plans for the future: Late into his adventuring career he might dabble in more serious upper class crimes. Depending on the amount of funds he can gather he might open a business (that may not be entirely up to code if you catch the drift). As the power of wizardry corrupts his values his morality seems morphed over time.
Buna Shimeji, is a surface dwelling Deep Gnome, who has heard about the Gnomish House of Sivis all his life. His parents would often tell him how if he could enter an apprenticeship and worked diligently, he could not only scrape a respectable living in the capital of Ebberon, but there was a tiny possibility to awaken the renowned Mark of Scribing through a specially guarded secret training that could burst open the barrier to sustain the lifestyle normally reserved to nobility! The war continued to ravage the land and when I was nearing of age it claimed my parents. I was left their estate and what funds they managed to save in those trying times and the war entered a truce shortly thereafter, but as the years grew in number and my savings dwindled I knew I was soon to enter a desperate time in my life. I attempted to prolong my position by scavenging for pawnable items from the wreckage but as opportunities presented themselves I committed a little larceny now and then as well, often aided by simple magical means. As I finally met the criteria for an entry position in House Sivis I was able to narrowly avoid being homeless due to tax foreclosure on my inherited estate.
House Sivis provided housing and food and a meager wage as I completed repetitive mundane tasks for them. “House Sivis promises absolute secrecy to its clients, pledging that even torture cannot force its speakers to divulge any details of the messages they” are entrusted with. This requires their member to undergo intense mnemonic training which “is a house secret allowing trained scribes to both memorize or expunge a message he has read or heard from his memory.” Eventually, I was trained as a scribe and took on a new position investigating documents to determine their legitimacy and was finally inducted into their Notaries Guild. After settling into my new position I had ultimately earned the privilege to attempt the training that would likely determine if I was worthy enough to awaken the famed Dragon’s Mark of Scribing! All my years of hard-work, determination to stick through the monotonous low skill work, and my best chance for a large advancement in the organization has all come down to this moment! A very, very disappointing moment.
I continued on at my work in a bit of a daze for a while until I finally decided I wasn’t willing to waste my life toiling day after day with my nose to parchment wishing that one day my efforts might be considered enough to qualify for a position where I could begin a more prosperous life. So, I petitioned my superior for a leave of absence to experience the world and suss out what I truly wanted to do with my life. After some consideration I was granted permission with the stipulation that if they really needed me to return for a time they would contact me and I would make every reasonable attempt to comply. With that I swiftly departed my homeland to gauge the opportunities that awaited me (and to gain enough distance that my proclivity for any misdeeds I might engage in along the way would be unlikely to reach the ears of my house and guild).
