Tag is a male, half-elf bard.
Taggert "Tag" Barnum grew up in a circus family.
The family was very large and extended but even still everyone was required to perform in the shows and work around camp with all the various tasks needed done. So, just like all members of his family, Tag became a jack-of-all-trades. Tag learned mainly acrobatics and stunts on ropes and the trapeze for his part in the show's main events but lent his talent to play drums and/or the bagpipes in their opening parade.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with the care givers and tamers of the the circus animals. Mainly just a team of horses but for a time the circus had acquired two tigers and a bear, which was a huge thrill for everyone, until that horrendous fateful day when one of the trainers thought it might be a good idea to bring the tigers and the bear out of their cages at the same time. Tag still has gruesome nightmares of the incident.
Because the circus business had limited resources to hire enough guards, Tag was taught to take up arms against the various gangs and highway men that they happened across when traveling between cities and towns. Tag gravitated naturally to the rapier and even found ways to make use of it in his acrobatic acts by setting up target dummies to jab at while he danced and flipped around them. Many times sword fighting experts in the audience would meet him after the show to give him tips and techniques to try next time.
As with every circus magicians, seers and weavers of mysterious, strange and sometimes dark magics were always around to delight, shock and awe the spectators with their tricks and illusions but were mainly hired to distract the marks while Tag and his brothers and sisters picked their pockets. In the off season the magicians would teach the kids a few of the simpler lower cast spells and before long Tag was using some of the illusions in the show's grand finale.
Alas, a couple years ago the business for the circus slowed to a grinding halt due to a recession in the country and so Tag and some of his other brothers were asked by the family elders to go adventure out and find some other means to bring home the funds needed to support the circus's expenses.
